Osteopathy & Orofacial Myology

Improving health one breath at a time.

Hello!

I'm Fiona, and it's a pleasure to meet you!

I've always been a dreamer with a big heart for helping others.

I'm super passionate about health and love diving into all thing’s performance and wellness. That's why I decided to blend these passions into a career where I can do it all!

Recently, I've been diving deep into Orofacial Myology, discovering how the tongue and facial muscles impact everything from sleep to speech, behaviour, and even dental health. It's a journey I'm thrilled to be on, especially as I uncover ways to optimise health for my own family. I believe in the power of improving health, one tongue at a time.

Welcome to my world —I’m excited to connect with you!

Osteopathic Treatment

Osteopathy is a holistic healthcare approach that focuses on the belief that the body has the ability to heal itself. Osteopathic practitioners use manual techniques such as stretching, massage, and manipulation to improve the body's function, relieve pain, and promote overall health. They also consider the impact of lifestyle, environment, and emotional well-being on a person's health. Osteopathy aims to treat the underlying cause of symptoms, rather than just the symptoms themselves, to restore balance and harmony to the body. It is used to treat a wide range of conditions, from musculoskeletal issues to digestive problems, and is suitable for people of all ages.

Orofacial Myology

Orofacial myology is a specialized field that focuses on the muscles of the face, mouth, and throat, and how they contribute to various functions such as swallowing, speech, breathing, and facial expressions. It involves the assessment, treatment and exercise prescription to address muscle imbalances and improper habits that can affect these functions.

Orofacial myology is often used to help individuals with issues such as speech disorders, improper swallowing patterns, and facial muscle imbalances. It can also be beneficial for those with temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, dental malocclusions, snoring, and breathing issues related to the muscles of the mouth and throat.

Orofacial myology therapy is suitable for people of all ages, from children to adults. It can be particularly beneficial for children with speech issues, open-mouth breathing, thumb-sucking habits, as well as for adults with TMJ disorders, snoring, or other issues related to muscle function in the face and mouth.

Collaboration with other healthcare professionals such as Osteopaths, Chiropractors, Speech Pathologists, Dentists, ENTs, and Orthodontists is key. This approach ensures that all contributing factors are addressed comprehensively, leading to the best possible outcomes for patients.
